If you’ve been running around Night Harbor clicking on barrels and getting no response, you aren't lagging. You’re likely running into the difference between modern MMO design and MnM's "MUD Action" system.
A huge chunk of the game's economy and quest progression is locked behind a text parser. If you aren't typing, you are missing loot. Based on a deep dive into the current mechanics (Update 50+), here is the essential guide to the hidden interaction layer.
The "Golden Verbs": Commands You Must Know
You don't need to memorize the dictionary, but you do need these specific commands.
/look (The Radar) • Function: Tells you what is interactive in the room. Update 50 bound this to the 'L' key by default. Use it every time you enter a new room. • Pro Tip: If the text says "a suspicious book protrudes," that's your cue.
/inspect <target> (The Deep Dive) • Function: Reveals the state of an object (e.g., "It has a keyhole," "It is nailed shut"). • Usage: Target the object, then type /inspect.
/pry <target> (The Loot Opener) • Requirement: You must have a prying tool (Crowbar, Shiv) on your cursor or equipped. • Secret: Used on floorboards, nailed crates, and stuck windows. This is the #1 command for finding hidden currency and keys.
/take <item> (The Specific Grab) • Function: "Looting" an object that isn't a container. • Crucial for Quests: Sometimes the item is part of the world geometry. You have to tell the game to take it.
/push & /pull (The Physics) • Function: Triggers secret doors, bookshelves, and sconces. • Note: These share a Global Cooldown (GCD). You can't spam them instantly.
Confirmed Hidden Loot & Quest Blockers
If you don't use MUD actions, you will get hard-stuck on these quests.
1. Night Harbor: Tig’s Measuring Quest • The Problem: Players run to the merchant to buy "Rope" and fail. • The Solution: Go to the survey markers (poles) at the quest site. Target the pole and type /take Rope. The rope is physically on the stick, not in a menu.
2. Wyrmsbane Tomb: The Bard’s Legacy • The Problem: You need "Alisar's Lute" for the Yowling quest line, but the mob doesn't drop it. • The Solution: In the Chapel/Builder room, look for a terrace with a Pipe Organ. Use /look to confirm, then target the lute and type /take Alisar's lute.
3. Tel Ekir: The Infinite Pickle Farm • The Secret: Update 47 confirmed that MUD objects have their own respawn timers. You can find "Pickle Barrels" in dungeons. • The Command: /take pickle. Free food forever.
4. General: The Charcoal Rubbing • The Secret: If you see an engraving or a weird texture on a wall... • The Command: Hold Charcoal and Parchment in your inventory, target the wall, and type /rub. This gives you a "Rubbing" item often needed for lore quests.
Macro Setup: Automating the Archaeologist
Typing /inspect every 5 seconds is annoying. Use the in-game macro system (/macro), but be warned: There is no /wait or /pause command. You cannot make a "one-button-does-everything" script because of the GCD.
The "Surveyor" (Spam this key constantly) This combines the radar with a target check.
The "Physics Triad" (Manual Cycle) Since you can't delay commands, put these on Shift + 1, Shift + 2, Shift + 3 and hit them in order when you see a suspicious wall.
WARNING: As of Update 49, physical MUD actions (pry, push, break) break stealth and invisibility. Do not try to ninja-loot a chest in a room full of mobs unless you are ready to fight.
Happy hunting! If you find any other "unlisted" interactable's, post them below.
